All her world's a stage.
Beatrice Shakespeare Smith is not an actress, yet she lives in a theater.
She is not an orphan, but she has no parents.
She knows every part, but has no lines of her own.
Until now.
Welcome to the Théâtre Illuminata, where the characters of every place ever written can be found behind the curtain. They were born to play their parts, and are bound to the Théâtre by The Book—an ancient and magical tome of scripts. Bertie is not one of them, but they are her family—and she is about to lose them all and the only home she has ever known

I wish I lived in Lisa Mantchev's magically written world! A debut novel that will have you begging for more!
I was hesitant to buy this book at first. One reason was I am not a big fan of the theater. But I am sure glad I did! I completely fell in love with the cast of 'Eyes Like Stars'. Bertie is a strong and self dependent girl who has issues following orders. She has a fascination with hair dye. (As you can tell from the cover.) Bertie is a heroine who won't disappoint! You’ll love her rebel attitude.

The second one is good too, I'll tell you that. (:
ReplyDeleteI LOVED THIS BOOK TOO! I mostly chose it because of the cover illustration. It's so lovely, and beautiful. The faeries! OH, I loved the faeries' witty remarks and humor. They made the story so much more better. Did the book make it seem as if you were in the theatre too? It'd be amazing if there was a place that had a self-moving theatre as Bertie's. Then again, it IS fantasy. Either way, a good review and I'm happy that you read another favorite of mine! (:
