The fifty contestants in the Miss Teen Dream pageant thought this was going to be a fun trip to the beach, where they could parade in their state-appropriate costumes and compete in front of the cameras. But sadly, their airplane had another idea, crashing on a desert island and leaving the survivors stranded with little food, little water, and practically no eyeliner.
What's a beauty queen to do? Continue to practice for the talent portion of the program - or wrestle snakes to the ground? Get a perfect tan - or learn to run wild? And what should happen when the sexy pirates show up?

*My Review*

This was not what I expected.. But it was a lot better! This is the first Libba Bray novel I have read. I know, I know I'm crazy.

This book is absolutely hilarious!  I cannot count the times I laughed out loud because of what was happening.

I loved the characters, but I felt that their were to many of them sometimes. I had a difficult time placing the name with the person. Most of the characters get developed as we go along. I felt like a few of the minor characters could have been dropped. Besides that some of the characters I loved to death. Their antics, their humor, just everything. The characters each have their own personality.

Their is so much more to this novel then mentioned in the synopsis. I can't really say much about what does happen with out giving it away. It may take a while to reach the point where things start to happen, but when you do it will be worth it!

The book switched point of views. From the girls, to The Cooperation, to Momo. I really loved this. It helps you understand whats going on, and gives you a look into what else the other players are planing on doing. Their are also adds from The Cooperation. Which are funny, and give you hints about what The Cooperation is truly about.

I'm not a huge fan of the cover. It is pretty and funny, but just not my type of thing.

Overall this was a funny book, that took awhile before the true action kicks in. If you're a fan of Libba Bray I am sure you will love it.

  2. I haven't read a Libba Bray book yet either, I know I'm horrible. This book does sound funny though, I might pick up a copy soon. Thanks for the great review.

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
