While other teenage girls daydream about boys, Calla Tor imagines ripping out her enemies’ throats. And she wouldn’t have it any other way. Calla was born a warrior and on her eighteenth-birthday she’ll become the alpha female of the next generation of Guardian wolves. But Calla’s predestined path veers off course the moment she saves the life of a wayward hiker, a boy her own age. This human boy’s secret will turn the young pack's world upside down and forever alter the outcome of the centuries-old Witches' War that surrounds them all.
Finally after hearing from everyone how amazing this book is I decided to give it a try. I had high expectations for this book, and lets say Andrea Cremer didn't disappoint me! With all the hype surrounding Nightshade I was afraid it was being over talked and I would be let down when I read it. Boy was I wrong! Nightshade blew my socks off! It completely deserves all the hype it was getting!
It is another werewolf book (I seem to be reading more werewolf books now. Hmm?) But the plot is so different! Andrea Cremer was completely changed the way we think of werewolves! She has many of her own magical touches that makes you fall in love with this book. Their is a whole other player in this game..book? and they are the Keepers. Who basically control the wolves. Oh and how can I forget about the Searchers! They are the Keepers enemies.
Calla was the kick-butt female in this fantastic read. She was AMAZING! She was the prefect main character, and alpha. She had strength, was witty, and was honorable. I absolutely fell in love with her character. The two men vying for her attention are (drum roll please!) Shay and Ren. Shay; the new kid in town, Calla knows he is special, but what is so different about him? He changes the way Calla thinks, and makes her question everything. And Ren; the hot, sexy, arrogant alpha. He and Calla have always known they would end up together. I have to say I'm Team Shay! All of the characters had their own personality, and they all seemed to spark off each other!
The ending was the worst part! It is such a major cliffhanger! I was screaming; How can it end HERE!?
Andrea Cremer has created an addictive world that I wished I lived in! I can not wait to return to it when "Wolfsbane" comes out!
