It is really sad for me because the closest book store was 15 minutes away. And that was the Borders. Now the only book store left is the Barns & Noble 40 minutes away. :( Seems like I am not going to be making it to a book store as often as I like. No more just hanging out, and scanning the shelves. I was also wanting to work at the closest Borders. It was going to be my first job.
Which lead to this.
After a few minutes of staring at the email I realized I had recently become a 'Gold Member' before all the closings happened. My membership wouldn't normally end till December 29th, 2011.
Which lead to this..
I payed for that membership, and now... it is going to be worthless! They will let you use it for the first two weeks of the closeout sale but after that. Break your card.
I am not going to lie and say I'm not going to go buy some of the books. I mean it is a deal, on some of them. But remember YA is always the last to go on sale. As of right now it is only 10% off, which soon they might jump up to 20% off.
It is really sad that this is happening. Borders was by far my favorite place to shop.

I know exactly how you feel!Borders has always been my favorite book store and I love those gifs you chose by the way :)
ReplyDeleteI also am sad to see them go. They always gave 30-50% off coupons which probably is what helped them go out of business. You can't always offer those kinds of discounts and still stay in business.
ReplyDeleteThanks, and Borders will always stay in my heart! :P
ReplyDeleteI love borders. It's so sad, I was thinking of becoming a Gold member. I'm in Puerto Rico right now on vacation and even though it's still 10% most of the YA is gone :(
ReplyDeleteI'll miss borders.
