No one wanted Ai Ling. And deep down she is relieved—despite the dishonor she has brought upon her family—to be unbetrothed and free, not some stranger's subservient bride banished to the inner quarters.

But now, something is after her. Something terrifying—a force she cannot comprehend. And as pieces of the puzzle start to fit together, Ai Ling begins to understand that her journey to the Palace of Fragrant Dreams isn't only a quest to find her beloved father but a venture with stakes larger than she could have imagined.

Bravery, intelligence, the will to fight and fight hard . . . she will need all of these things. Just as she will need the new and mysterious power growing within her. She will also need help.

It is Chen Yong who finds her partly submerged and barely breathing at the edge of a deep lake. There is something of unspeakable evil trying to drag her under. On a quest of his own, Chen Yong offers that help . . . and perhaps more.

This book was perfect for me! I love learning about Chinese Dynasties, and well pretty much anything historic! :) Yes, I am a history buff. Now on to the good stuff!

Silver Phoenix is a book that kept me entertained the whole way through! Cindy Pon did a fantastic job with character development, and creating a world that reader would love to visit.

Ai Ling is a great protagonist. She has all the qualities that make a great main character. She was strong wielded, and courageous, yet selfish.  She was very compassionate through out the whole novel. Chen Young was a very likable character. He was always there for Ai Ling. I think that they make the cutest couple!

The many different variety of creatures that were reveled in this book were truly captivating! The many different lands the main characters traveled through were  interesting. I would love to visit some of them.

The one character I wish I knew more about is the Silver Phoenix! For what was told in the story she sound amazing! I want to know her history. I hope that she is mentioned more in the second book!

The plot was fast paced! It never veered of on random subjects. This will keep you reading till your finished with the book!

The food mentioned in this book is to die for! My mouth was watering on several occasions!

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a fast paced read with tons of adventure!

  3. I competely agree with you on Ai Ling and Cheng...they do make a great couple. I think the plot could have been a little faster, but other than that it was a great book!

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
