Jennifer Echols Interview: Forget You

Today we have Jennifer Echols here to kick off summer! Jennifer is the author of many YA novels. Some are; Going Too Far, Forget You, Endless Summer, and her soon to be released book Love Story. Jennifer is such an amazing author. All of her books have left some type of imprint on me. Anyways, on with the good stuff, the interview!

In Forget You Zoey is a talented swimmer, is she based off you in any way?

I learned to swim when I was 2 and grew up swimming in a beautiful lake in Alabama, but my high school did not have a swim team. And when Zoey nearly drowns at the beginning--that was me on my honeymoon in Hawaii. When Hawaii tells you to beware of the surf, they are not kidding.

What inspired you to write Forget You?

I had an image in my head of a boy on crutches for the entire book, and I based the rest of the story around that.

All of your books are focused on real relationships, and the struggles teens have. What made you decide to take this route in writing and notparanormal romance?

I want the story to be about the relationship itself. In paranormal romance, the book is often about the paranormal story, and the relationship is secondary.

So true!

Do you have any writers that inspire you?

Wow, so many! My hero is Jennifer Crusie, who writes adult romantic comedy

What are you currently working on?

I’m writing Such a Rush, my romantic drama that will be published in July 2012. I’m also doing a lot of promo for Love Story, which will be out on July 19, 2011.

I can not wait to read Love Story!

-Random Summer Questions-

Do you have time to write during the summer?

It has been hard for me in the past, because my son was out of school and I had another job. But now I am a full-time writer, so it should be easier!

Where do you like to spend most of your time during the hot summer months?

I try to spend a lot of time at the pool or the lake. I still love swimming!

What is your favorite summer romance read?
The Moonspinners by Mary Stewart. It may be off most people’s radars because it was first published in 1962, but it is an awesome book and you are going to be blown away, trust me.

I'll have to add that to my wish list. It sounds really good!

Thank you Jennifer so much for being here today! If you haven't read any of Jennifer's work, pick something up today! I promise you won't be disappointed.

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
