Nothing's simple when you run with werewolves. Jess Gillmansen thinks she's seen it all but her eyes are about to be opened to even more danger and a reality far more paranormal than she's suspected. With Jess' realization that the Rusakovas' mother is still alive and imprisoned, the group's choices become harder and trust more important. Lines are drawn and relationships change as the broken Rusakova family struggles to reunite to free their mother - and those who Jess thought to be normal people show themselves to be much, much more..

Secrets and Shadows was able to keep my attention a lot better then 13 To Life did. This was full of twist and turns that had me reading as fast as I could to found out what was going to happen next. This series keeps getting better and better! I can not wait to see where Shannon Delany will take Jess' intriguing story.

This story picks up right where 13 To Life left off. I was frustrated a lot during this book. I was mad at Jess and Pietr. Mad with Jess' friends...AHH it was a mess. Their were new characters, and plot twisters that are introduced in this novel. Their were plenty of romantic twist in this novel. Some that I loved and others that I couldn't stand. You get to learn more about the Rusakova's past. Which is both exiting and a little scary at the same time.

The characters have defiantly grown and captured my attention. Some became worse while others grew to be amazing. Pietr has some mood swings that I couldn't stand, but I will always love him! He sure does know how to send a girl on an emotional roller coster! That is all I am going to say. Jess is still as stubborn as every, and I don't think that will ever change. I loved Max in this book! I was fawning over him! He shows us his softer side, and he had me melting! I loved his little flirty moments with Jess, which of course Pietr hated. The character that had me so confused was Derek! He took me by surprise. I knew something was up with him, but Shannon had me guessing to the end! You get to see Sarah's true personality, which is evil.

The ending mad me so happy and mad at the same time! It was such a major cliffhanger I was like: "Really?! You really have to leave it right here?"

I can not wait till Bargains and Betrayals comes out in August! I will be buying it as soon as possible!

This sequel was a lot better than 13 To Life. I can tell that this series is going to get better and better! I can not wait to read the 3rd book in the series!

  1. I haven't read 13 to Life yet, but my friend has been bugging me about reading it, so I guess I'll have to get to it soon. Great review!

  2. GFC Krystal Larson. I have to say, I loved this book. The main character is great, the plot is great, the love interest...not so great, I get really annoyed with him.

  3. I've heard of this author, but I've never had the chance to look for her books. It sounds really interesting though, and I'll TRY to read the first book of the series, unless I find it really good..however, great review like always! (:

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
