When Melinda Sordino's friends discover she called the police to quiet a party, they ostracize her, turning her into an outcast -- even among kids she barely knows. But even worse than the harsh conformity of high-school cliques is a secret that you have to hide.

Speak is a book you can not put down!

Anderson's writing is so raw and powerful it always delivers! She has a talent for creating something that the readers can relate to. Her characters are very believable. Every book that I have read of hers has left me stunned.

In speak I felt instantly attached to the main character. Melinda is a lot like me. She loves art. She also keeps to herself. She won't tell anyone her secret. This secret hunts her.  I feel so sorry of Melinda through out the whole book.

It only took me around 3 hours to read this book. I was on a family road trip. With every road trip I take 7 or 8 books follow! You never want to be stuck some where without a good book! :P Once I picked this up, I didn't put it down.

This was a very inspirational read for me. It's about standing up, speaking out, and being yourself!

  1. I have only seen the movie, but that was really good too. I would like to read the book at some point, especially after your review.

  2. Lovely review. I remember reading this book for the first time in 6th grade and it was so powerful to me. Then we were assigned the book in my 7th grade English class and I was so excited just to have a reason to read it again so soon.

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
