When you can see things others can't, where do you look for the truth?
This paranormal murder mystery will have teens reading on the edge of their seats.
Clarity "Clare" Fern sees things. Things no one else can see. Things like stolen kisses and long-buried secrets. All she has to do is touch a certain object, and the visions come to her. It's a gift.
And a curse.
When a teenage girl is found murdered, Clare's ex-boyfriend wants her to help solve the case--but Clare is still furious at the cheating jerk. Then Clare's brother--who has supernatural gifts of his own--becomes the prime suspect, and Clare can no longer look away. Teaming up with Gabriel, the smoldering son of the new detective, Clare must venture into the depths of fear, revenge, and lust in order to track the killer. But will her sight fail her just when she needs it most?

A paranormal book that was AH-mazing! Kim has some talent, I will tell you that. I picked up Clarity one night, then stayed up ALL NIGHT to finish it. Clarity has a great heroine, a family of freaks, some hot guys, murder, and the beach! Can you ask for more form a book?! I think not! This debut was another one that left me breathless, and dying for more!

The first thing I noticed about this book was the cover. I mean it''s beyond beautiful! I hate admitting this, but I judge books by their cover. It looks beautiful, simple, and kind of scary. I love it!

It didn't take me long to realize I was going to love this book. For one thing the very first chapter was intense! It was no longer than a few paragraphs, and it had me screaming, "What!? How did that happen?" It instantly grabs your attention!

The Fern family is different. The towns people scorn them, while tourist love them.  Clarity, aka Clare, is the psychic of the family. Her mother is a telepath, and her brother is a medium. Clare's  the one with the sharp tongue.  Example "the tourist tuxedo: khaki shorts and a flowered silk shirt." Clare can not wait to leave her tourist town and start a new life were no one knows her as the 'freak'. I loved her character! I thought she was very developed, and hilarious! Even with her kick-butt awesome abilities I could still relate to her!

Let jump to some of my favorite guy characters. I loved Gabriel and Justin. Both are fine additions to my top YA fiction guys. :)  Gabriel is the son of a cop. He's dark, mysterious, and just plain hot! Justin was sweet! Sometimes.... Perry is Clare's brother. Even though he was a player, I still found him likable.

This book keeps you guessing. The plot takes so many twist and turn. I remember saying that I was sure what person did it, then 30 pages later saying "No, it's him!" I think I blamed almost every single character in the book.... Yes, I did go a little overboard! :P

Kim Harrinton has an amazing debut! She, of course, left us with a major cliffhanger! Come on, I know you love them! :) And hate them at the same time! I can not wait to read the sequel! Write Kim! Please write quickly!

  3. I loved Clarity, the main character is just fun and she doesn't go back to her cheater of a boyfriend which is always a plus. Horray for strong girls! GFC Krystal Larson

  4. Oh boy. I want to read this now. Your review made me itching to read what's going to happen in the story! And it's okay for judging a book by its cover because there are lots of other people who do the same. Just needs a little practice, that's all.
Anyways, the plot sounds really interesting, and I like mysterious guys. They're...delicious. Haha, no other word to describe them! (:
I really enjoyed this review! Good work! <3

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
