In the beginning, there's a boy standing in the trees . . . .Clara Gardner has recently learned that she's part angel. Having angel blood run through her veins not only makes her smarter, stronger, and faster than humans (a word, she realizes, that no longer applies to her), but it means she has a purpose, something she was put on this earth to do. Figuring out what that is, though, isn't easy. Her visions of a raging forest fire and an alluring stranger lead her to a new school in a new town. When she meets Christian, who turns out to be the boy of her dreams (literally), everything seems to fall into place—and out of place at the same time. Because there's another guy, Tucker, who appeals to Clara's less angelic side.As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she'd have to make—between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?
I have fallen in love with another book! Cynthia Hand has stunned me. Yes, stunned! I love this book!
First let me just thank Cynthia for already having Clara know she's an angel. The story was able to start and really develop because of this. I mean the YA genre is swamped with books where a protagonist learns he or she is something special then they go and face the antagonist. Even though I love books like this, I'm starting to get board of them.
Clara was an interesting main character. I didn't LOVE her, but I didn't hate her. She was likable. She was just a hormonal teenage girl with a little more to worry about than most. I thought she was flippy floppy, but what girl isn't? I loved both Christian and Tucker. Christian sometimes bothered me, because he wouldn't let go of his ex. I love love Tucker. A sweet cowboy, who can get under your skin. The love triangle between them was something I didn't really expect. It was way more intense than I thought it would be. I loved it anyways!
This book will blow you away! It has an interesting twist and the ending will stun you! I can not wait for the sequel to come out!
