The Old vs. The New

The Old vs. The New is a  new feature on my lovely blog. Any time I post one of these posts, I will be discussing two covers of the same book. I will tell you which cover I like best, and why. I got this idea for this lovely feature for Alex over at Electrifying Reviews. He is AMAZING! Go check out his blog.

Book 1: Hush, Hush

Both covers are very similar, not to much change. The second is a paperback version that was published this year. I don't like the red font. And the blue-ish tint on the book, just ruins the erie feeling of the book. I feel like the first cover represents the story better, but thats just me. I also hate all of the small text on the new cover.

Winner: The Old

Book 2: White Cat

Again, both of the cover designs are very similar. The old has an erie feel to it, more mysterious. I hate not being able to really see the guys face though. I LOVE the font on the old. It's something different. The new cover has improved in someways then became worse in others. The font is hideous! It's blahh to me, but it screams "LOOK AT ME!" I think it distracts you. You can see the guys face, Wo Ho! But whats with the random puff of red smoke beside his face? Very hard to chose...

Winner: The Old

Book 3: Beastly

The new is the movie cover edition that is expected to be published in 2011. The old is beautiful in an elegant and simple way. It has character. The new cover is attention grabbing. I always like to see what the characters look like. To get an image in my mind.

Winner: The New

Recent Reviews

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
