On the night of Skye's seventeenth birthday, she meets two enigmatic strangers. Complete opposites--like fire and ice--Asher is dark and wild, while Devin is fair and aloof. Their sudden appearance sends Skye's life into a tailspin. She has no idea what they want, or why they seem to follow her every move--only that their presence coincides with a flurry of strange events. Soon she begins to doubt not just the identity of the two boys, but also the truth about her own past.
In the dead of a bitingly cold Colorado winter, Skye finds herself coming to terms with the impossible secret that threatens to shatter her world. Torn between Asher, who she can't help falling for, and Devin, who she can't stay away from, the consequences of Skye's choice will reach further than the three of them could ever imagine."A Beautiful Dark" is the first book in a captivating trilogy by debut author Jocelyn Davies.

*My Review*

OH MY GOSH! What a cliffhanger!  I am still thinking about it four days after I finished reading it! This paranormal book took me on a crazy roller coster ride.

If you can't tell by the cover, and the chapter images this book is about angels. Angels seem to have taken over the paranormal genre for a while. Which is perfect for me!  A lot of my all time favorite books are about angels. In this genre I feel like the books all follow the same basic story line. Authors add their own ideas and twist to the story, but I still find them predictable. Now I was able to guess as to what was coming next in A Beautiful Dark some of the time, but towards the end Jocelyn took me by surprise!  She did something I did not aspect and was NOT ready for!

I really grew attached to the characters. Skye is a great main character and I loved her instantly! As the story goes on you learn more and more about Skye and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her sometimes. Then we have the boys....Oh yes! Asher is just AH-MAZING! Who doesn't love the dark brooding type? Devin on the other hand is Asher's complete opposite. Where Devin is calm and relaxed, Asher is tense and wild.  Devin seems so sweet and caring! When you read on you will learn more about the boys, some good and some bad. Lets not forget Skye's friends! They were comical relief for the novel. I was caught laughing a few time at their antics!

Jocelyn has a great debut novel! Her writing is new and fresh. I feel that she can go a long way with this series.  I cannot wait to read more from her!

I loved this book all the way up to the end. It was a HUGE cliffhanger! I mean something big then oops it's over. GR! Very maddening! Now I have to wait forever to read the next book in the series!

Revealing Eden by Victoria Foyt

When I read Dystopian books, I either love them or hate them. Most of the time I just can not connect with the characters, and sometimes it's the setting. But with Revealing Eden I was completely captivated with the world Victoria created.

Steel by Carrie Vaughn

Time travel and pirates. These are two words that I love to hear! I have always love time travel, and pirates have always interested me. So finding this book was like finding a buried treasure! ( why yes, that was super cheesy, but I couldn't resist!) In fact a book I am writing now has to do with time travel. :D hehe!

The Queen of Kentucky by Alecia Witaker

The Queen of Kentucky is a book that I, as a Kentucky native myself, could relate to. Being able to relate to the characters and the surroundings really made me enjoy this book. The Queen of Kentucky is one of those books that has such a great message.

Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi

As soon as I got this book I tore into it! I could not wait to read it! And once I started Under the Never Sky it never let my hand. :) This is by far one of my favorite dystopian novels that I have read this year! Veronica really surprised me with her debut! Think of Under the Never Sky as awesome as Angelfire, and if you know me at all then you know that this novel blew my socks off! it!
